BioRobert Otto Valdez, Ph.D., Professor Family & Community Medicine and Economics was the founding Dean of the Drexel School of Public Health in Philadelphia and previously Professor of Health Services at the UCLA School of Public Health. Dr. Valdez simultaneously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health (PHS) and Director of Interagency Health Policy (HCFA) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 1993-1997. He has also served our nation on several occasions as a White House Senior Advisor. Dr. Valdez served for many years on the Board and as the Chairman of the Public Health Institute, one of the nation’s largest non-profit public health research and programming organizations in the country.
