Anna Cao is the 2025 Mummert Economics Research Fellow

Economics major Anna Cao was awarded the 2025 Ryan and Brandi Mummert Research Fellowship in Economics this spring. Anna's application stood out in a very competitive pool based on her stellar academic record and her interest in pursuing economics research as a career. Anna will be working with Prof. Jingjing Wang on a project that explores Agricultural Water Users' Preferences for Water Conservation Programs in the Middle Rio Grande Basin.

Ryan Mummert, who graduated with a BA in Economics from UNM in 1996, was inspired to create the Research Fellowship to replicate the formative experience he had when he completed an honor's thesis under the mentorship of Professor Bob Berrens. Mummert's athletic scholarship gave him the time and energy to put his heart into the research. Ryan and his wife, Brandi, hope that The Mummert Fellowship will do the same for current Economics majors.
