Alexander Fertig
Bio
Alexander Fertig is a development economist focusing broadly on topics related to migration and conflict. In his current work, he studies the impacts of the internet and social media in conflict settings, while a second strand of his research investigates the effects of international migration and remittances on migrant origin countries. He also works on topics related to women’s economic empowerment and the long-run impacts of reparations. Before joining the faculty at UNM, Dr. Fertig completed his PhD In Public Policy & Economics at the University of Michigan. He also holds an MPA from Columbia University and a BA from Wesleyan University.
